KamuAI Installation Guide for macOS

Ready to get started? Installing KamuAI on your Mac is quick and easy. Just follow these simple steps.

Step 1: Download KamuAI

First, click the link below to download the installation package for macOS.

Your browser will save a file named KamuAI.dmg to your computer's "Downloads" folder.

Step 2: Install the App

Once the download completes, mount the .dmg file and install KamuAI.

  1. Double-click the KamuAI.dmg file to mount it. A new window will open, showing the KamuAI app.
  2. Drag the KamuAI application icon to the Applications folder.
  3. When prompted, confirm by clicking "Copy" to complete the installation.

Step 3: Launch KamuAI

After installation, you're ready to go.

  1. Open your Applications folder and double-click KamuAI to launch it.
  2. If prompted, confirm you want to open the app by clicking "Open".

When you start KamuAI, choose your preferred workflow:

  • To use Hosted Models: Sign in with your DesktopTools.ai account. This gives you access to cloud-based models via pay-as-you-go credits.
  • To use only Local Models: Skip signing in. If Ollama is running, KamuAI will automatically detect your locally installed models, allowing you to chat offline for free.

You can always sign in later if you decide to try the hosted models!

On first launch, macOS will show a security warning saying this app was downloaded from the internet. This is normal for all downloaded apps. Click "Open" to proceed.
